A dictator of the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) from 1929-1953. The Soviet Union was transformed from a poor society into an industrial and military force. Stalin ruled by using terror and many people were killed during his reign. When Stalin gained power, he then decided to have any possible enemies executed or he would send them into labor camps. In World War II, Stalin connected with the U.S. and with Britain (1939-1935). Then, Stalin got involved in the Cold War (1946-1991).
