The Korean War took place on the Korean Peninsula June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953. Following World War II, the Korean Peninsula was separated into two parts: the northern part (Democratic People's Republic of Korea), and the southern part (Republic of Korea). These two parts were separated by the 38th Parallel.
